 World Mental Health Day is observed annually on 10 October. This year’s theme for World Mental Health Day is ‘Make mental health & wellbeing a global priority for all’. In line with this year’s theme and to commemorate the day, the Cyprus Psychologists Association, the EFPA Standing Committee on Crisis, Disaster, and Trauma Psychology and the University of Cyprus are coorganizing the

 2ND INTERNATIONAL NICOSIA SYMPOSIUM ON CRISIS, DISASTER, EMERGENCY AND TRAUMA PSYCHOLOGY

 WHEN: October 07, 2022 │ 9:00-13:45 (CET +1)

WHERE: University of Cyprus, Nicosia, Cyprus and Online

 The Symposium theme is “Global Emergencies, Local Preparedness.” It recognizes that psychology as a science and an applied profession has a great deal to contribute to mental health at a community level and especially as it relates to the field of Crisis, Disaster, Emergency and Trauma Psychology. Specifically, it focuses on the psychosocial impacts that arise after critical incidents in the community, especially those that relate to global crises/threats such as climate change, natural disasters, war, and other. It hopes to strengthen the capacity of European countries for psycho-social response preparedness in today’s global emergencies that affect people’s mental health. Scientific presentations are expected from European experts and invited local speakers (program below).

The Symposium will be held in English and registration is free. Online participants will receive a zoom link via email once they register.

The Standing Committee on Disaster, Crisis and Trauma Psychology of the European Federation of Psychologists Association (EFPA) in partnership with Cyprus Psychologists Association present the 2nd Nicosia Symposium on Crisis, Disaster and Trauma Psychology. The symposium will take place in Nicosia on Friday 7th of October 2022, celebrating the World Mental Health Day 2022.

On this opportunity, the Standing Committee on Disaster, Crisis and Trauma Psychology will be meeting on 7th and 8th of October. More information on this will be circulated within the committee.
