14:00-14:30 | Implementation of “Education that fits: a systemic change to support students”
| Margreet Versteeg – School psychologist, Netherlands
In the Netherlands in 2014 “Education that fits” started in primary education, secondary education and vocational education. “Education that fits” is a legislation that changed the access to and the financing from support and extra support in education. This legislation is a framework on the level of the educational system. How this framework is filled in depends on the policy of the consortiums “Education that fits” of a region. The consortiums “Education that fits” have the task to implement “Education that fits”. This means that every child is participating in education of a school and that the student gets the support and extra support to develop him selves optimal in education. But how to control that?
Is “Education that fits” working? “Education that fits” has to be a step forward to a more inclusive educational system.

15:15-15:45 | How psychologists support Inclusion in Portugal: raising issues and showing examples
| Sara Bahia – Assistant Professor of Psychology, University of Lisbon, Portugal
Enhancing educational opportunities, promoting inclusion and supporting all pupils are the aims of psychologists in educational contexts. This presentation raises critical questions for all psychologists who face the challenge of inclusion and proposes two examples of psychologists’ efforts towards inclusive education: how psychologists assure educational opportunities for the gifted and talented despite the lack of legislation on a particular issue of inclusion and how educational psychologists have a positive impact in implementing inclusion of special needs university students in well-organised psychological services.

15:45-16:15 | Barriers to educational inclusion:  the good, the bad and the ugly!
We will highlight practices in England and Wales which hamper educational inclusion of two groups of children.  The first group are those with recognised disabilities, the second group include children and young people who challenge the educational system by their behaviour, which is described as “persistently disruptive”.  The practices presented will range from local illegal actions to the unintended consequences of national legislation.
